Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Governor
The Lagos State enforcement team has carried out the removal of illegal structures built along the Jebba/Kano collector in Ebute Metta, warning that such encroachments have worsened flooding in the area by obstructing the free flow of stormwater.
According to the state government, the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to safeguard critical infrastructure and protect lives and property across the state.
Residents were strongly advised to respect the drainage Right of Way (RoW) and desist from erecting buildings, extensions, or makeshift structures that compromise public drainage systems.
“Protecting our drains is protecting lives and property,” the government noted, stressing that flood prevention requires strict compliance with urban regulations.
