Senator Ali Ndume
Ali Ndume, the senator representing Borno South, has alleged that some officials in the Presidential Villa always request bribes before granting access to President Bola Tinubu.
Mr Ndume, who made the claims during an interview on Arise News on Tuesday, insisted that the government is being run by Kakistocracts and kleptocrats.
He also lamented that the non-appointment of ambassadors in two years by Mr Tinubu is partly responsible for the current diplomatic row between Nigeria and the United States.
“Do you know that this government of Tinubu came to office about two and a half years ago? Do you know that we don’t have ambassadors anywhere?
“Do you know we don’t have a representative in the UN? Let’s say it as it is. I don’t like saying this on TV, but that’s the only way I can vent out.
“I don’t have a chance to see the president; the only way to see the president is at an event. If he sees and says, ‘Oh Ndume,’ this is how they run the government.
“They don’t have people in there; the government is indeed dominated by kakistocrats and kleptocrats. If you want to see the president, they will ask you how much?,” he said.
He said efforts to see the President have been frustrated by those within the corridors of power. “I don’t have access to the president. The only time I see him is when he’s attending an event.
“I wrote to them, requesting a meeting with the president to discuss some financial matters, but they kept playing games as if they wanted you to go to heaven first,” he said, describing the experience as “frustrating and embarrassing.”
