Tension erupted at the Lagos State University (LASU) as diploma students staged a protest against the school management over alleged denial of direct entry admission despite meeting the required criteria.
Some of the aggrieved students lamented that after spending two years in the program, they were denied admission even though the school had pegged the cutoff mark at a 3.5 grade point average (GPA). According to them, several students with GPAs above 4.0 were still excluded from the process.
Rather than addressing their concerns, the students alleged that the university deployed its security personnel to intimidate, harass, and arrest peaceful protesters.
The students have vowed to continue their protest until justice is served and the school management reverses what they described as an unfair decision.
