Former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua delivered a commanding sixth-round knockout of Jake Paul on Saturday night in Miami, according to The Athletic.
Paul, the YouTuber-turned-professional boxer, managed to extend the fight beyond the early rounds, but Joshua’s superior experience, timing and power gradually took control of the contest. The bout was contested at heavyweight under full professional rules.
Joshua floored Paul twice in the fifth round, ringside observers confirmed, leaving Paul visibly shaken as the fight entered the sixth. Moments into the round, Joshua unleashed a sustained combination of punches, forcing the referee to step in and halt the contest, ruling Paul unable to continue.
In his post-fight remarks, Joshua turned his attention to long-time rival Tyson Fury, calling on him to finally agree to a long-anticipated showdown.
“Put down your Twitter fingers and put on some gloves and come and fight me,” Joshua said.
After the bout, Paul claimed he had suffered a broken jaw, a statement he made publicly following the stoppage. No independent medical report had been released at the time of reporting. Paul declined to name a potential next opponent, saying he intends to take a break from boxing.
The defeat marks the second loss of Paul’s professional career, according to official records. He is currently ranked No. 14 in the WBA cruiserweight division.
Paul’s recent résumé includes a controversial victory over former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, 58, in November 2024 during Netflix’s debut boxing event, as well as a points win over Julio Cesar Chávez Jr., 39, in June. Both bouts are reflected in official fight records.
