The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified former National Secretary and ex-Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, alongside six other aspirants, from participating in the party’s governorship primary scheduled for December 13, 2025.
The disqualification followed the outcome of the party’s screening exercise, which uncovered multiple irregularities in the nomination documents submitted by the affected contenders. After a thorough review, only two aspirants were cleared to contest the primary.
In the report submitted to the APC National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja, the Screening Committee, chaired by Chief Obinna Uzoh, confirmed that its assignment was completed on December 4. The panel stated that the seven disqualified aspirants failed to meet a critical requirement contained in the APC Constitution and guidelines governing governorship primaries.
According to the committee, the aspirants were unable to provide mandatory evidence of sponsorship by “five fully registered and financially up-to-date party members from each Local Government Area in Osun State,” as stipulated in Articles 9.3(i), 31.2(ii), and Paragraph 6(c) of the party’s guidelines.
Those disqualified include Senator Iyiola Omisore, Babatunde Haketer Oralusi, Oyedotun Babayemi, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, Benedict Alabi, Adegoke Rasheed Okiki, and Senator Babajide Omoworare.
Meanwhile, the two aspirants who successfully met all nomination conditions Mulikat Abiola Jimoh and Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji have been cleared to participate in the December 13 primary.
The committee noted that its assessment process was rigorous, involving verification of all submitted documents, review of declarations made by the aspirants, and interviews to ascertain their readiness and adherence to party rules.
