Fresh controversy has erupted over the race to the revered Awujale of Ijebu-Ode stool as the Jadiara Royal House has formally disclaimed the royal lineage of Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Anifowose, MON, who recently declared interest in the vacant throne.

In a strongly worded letter dated December 7, 2025, addressed to the leadership of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Ulenla Agunsebi, Ijebu-Ode, Otunba Prince Akinola Odedina, FCA, FCIT, FCIN, MSc, BSc, an accredited member of the Jadiara Royal House, stated categorically that Otunba Wasiu Ayinde “has no genealogical lineage to the Jadiara Royal House.”

According to the letter, following Ayinde’s public declaration of interest to contest the Awujale stool through the Jadiara Royal House, the Chairman of Fusengbuwa Ruling House issued him a nomination form with the expectation that he would present verifiable documents to authenticate his royal roots.
“We in Jadiara Royal House have patiently waited for him to appear with his form and whatever documents he may have to prove his linkage to Jadiara Royal House. He is yet to show up,” the letter stated.

Prince Odedina explained that the clarification became necessary because the matter had assumed public interest status, stressing that the public would continue to be informed as events unfold.

Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Anifowose, a prominent indigene and businessman, had recently declared his intention to contest the Awujale stool, allegedly identifying Jadiara Royal House as his ancestral root.
