Fuji maestro, Wasiu Ayinde, has stirred fresh controversy after officially obtaining and submitting the expression of interest form for the Awujale of Ijebuland stool—just days after the Jadiara Royal Family publicly disowned him.
In the form, Ayinde reportedly listed the Jadiara lineage as his ancestral root, a move that contradicts the firm denial issued by the royal family, which stated that the musician has “no blood, historical, or traditional connection” to their heritage.
Despite this, Ayinde insists he is fully qualified to ascend the revered Awujale throne, asserting confidence in his eligibility and dismissing the growing criticism trailing his declaration.
His bold step has triggered intense debate among Ijebu stakeholders and the wider traditional circle, with many questioning the credibility of his lineage claim and the potential implications for the respected royal stool.
