Panic briefly gripped residents of Ikorodu on December 27, 2025, after an alleged child kidnapper was apprehended near Primary School Ajegunle, off Ita-Oluwo, following a failed abduction attempt.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect was exposed when a young boy reportedly escaped from his grip and raised the alarm, drawing the attention of community youths. The youths swiftly mobilised, chased the suspect and apprehended him within the neighbourhood.

The suspect, who was allegedly disguised as a madman, could not provide a credible explanation when confronted by residents, heightening suspicions about his intentions.

The incident has sparked renewed concerns over child safety in the area, with residents calling on security agencies to intensify surveillance around schools and public spaces.
