The United States Embassy in Nigeria has announced a Spring Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) for Nigerians set to begin their studies in the U.S. this coming spring semester.
The program aims to provide participants with practical guidance on both academic and social life at American colleges and universities.
In a statement shared on its X account on Monday, the U.S. Mission said the orientation is designed to help newly admitted students transition smoothly into the U.S. education system, while offering a platform to engage with alumni and current students studying in the United States.
The statement noted that the event will include sessions on navigating campus life, understanding academic expectations, adapting to a new culture, and strategies for success as an international student.
Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and gain first-hand insights from Nigerians who have studied or are currently studying in the U.S.
The embassy urged eligible students to register early to secure their spots, noting that the orientation is a key part of preparing for life and study in the United States.
“Are you preparing to study in the United States this coming spring? If so, join us for our Spring Pre-departure Orientation!” it said.
“This event offers an opportunity to connect with alumni and current students from U.S. colleges and universities, and to learn valuable tips for thriving as a student in the United States.”
