Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has commented on his son Abba’s move from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abubakar was the presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2023 general election.
He lost the poll to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC.
Speaking on the defection of Abba to the APC and his declaration to support the reelection of Tinubu in 2027, he said the decision is entirely a personal one for his son.
In a post on social media, Abubakar wrote: “The decision of my son, Abba Abubakar, to join the All Progressives Congress ( APC) is entirely personal.
“In a democracy, such choices are neither unusual nor alarming, even when family and politics intersect.
“As a democrat, I do not coerce my own children in matters of conscience, and l certainly will not coerce Nigerians.
“What truly concerns me is the poor governance of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) and the service economic and social hardships it has imposed on our people.
“I remain resolute in working with like-minded patriots to restore good governance and offer Nigerians a credible alternative that brings relief, hope, and progress.”
