The father of Afrobeats star Davido, Adedeji Adeleke, has threatened legal action against social media personality Kemi Olunloyo, accusing her of impersonation, misinformation and sustained defamation in a long-running paternity dispute involving a minor.
Adeleke spoke during a press briefing on Wednesday, amid renewed public debate over claims that Davido fathered a 12-year-old girl, Anuoluwapo.
Asked whether the family would pursue legal action, Adeleke said the situation had become excessive.
“I think we have to consider it. It is getting out of hand,” he said.
He added that Olunloyo’s publication of what she described as a DNA result was dangerous and misleading.
“For publishing this, we are going to consider suing her,” he said, describing the act as defamatory.
Impersonation, Defamation Allegations
Adeleke accused Olunloyo of running social media accounts in the name of the minor and her mother to attack his son and sustain false claims.
He said the family received confirmation from the child’s aunt that they had cut ties with Olunloyo and that she was responsible for managing the online accounts attributed to Anu.
“She has been lying and lying, using an account that does not belong to her, impersonating a child and the child’s mother,” he said.
“She lies a lot. The family says she’s crazy. She’s receiving psychiatric help somewhere.
“Her own father said it. So I don’t care what she says.”
The billionaire businessman also dismissed Olunloyo’s claim of a personal relationship with his late wife, describing it as false.
‘Multiple DNA Tests Conducted’
Adeleke said the DNA tests conducted were not done to appease public opinion but to satisfy himself as a father.
“The test I asked David to do was not because of the public. I did it for myself. This is science.
“Even if it is done 10 times, it will not change. It is like a fingerprint. The DNA profile will never change,” he said.
He stressed that the Adeleke family had no reason to deny a child, noting that he already has 14 grandchildren.
“What is one more? Is it that I cannot afford to take care of her? But there is science, and science is clear,” he said.
Adeleke maintained that several DNA tests had been conducted over the years, all of which showed that Davido is not the biological father of the child.
He added that the same accredited laboratory that handled DNA tests for Davido’s acknowledged children, including Imade, and his late son Ifeanyi, also handled the disputed tests, insisting that the results were consistent.
“The same lab did Imade’s DNA. The same lab did Ifeanyi’s DNA. If you compare the profiles, they are clear,” he said.
‘Support Despite Results’
Adeleke disclosed that he had supported the child and her family privately over the years, even though the DNA results showed no biological link.
He said he paid Anu’s school fees, sent upkeep money and offered her mother admission into Adeleke University with a monthly stipend.
“If I can pay the girl’s school fees and send her money, knowing fully well she is not my grandchild, without telling anybody, I would have been glad if she was my granddaughter so I could spoil her like the others,” he said.
He added that Davido was not aware of his private involvement with the family.
The paternity dispute re-emerged in early January when an Instagram account with Anuoluwapo’s name appealed for a new DNA test, saying she had endured years of bullying and emotional pain.
Davido responded on X, stating that several DNA tests had already been done and all showed he was not her father.
However, her mother challenged this, claiming only one test was conducted in 2014 and alleging it was flawed.
She called for a new, independently monitored DNA test. The journalist also dismissed the Adeleke family’s claims, sharing what she said was the 2014 DNA result and asserting it was the only confirmed test.
Davido maintained his stance, rejecting arguments based on physical resemblance and insisting all DNA results proved he is not the child’s father.
