Defence Minister, Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd), has warned states against negotiating with bandits, saying talks embolden criminals and prolong insecurity.

He said the Federal Government rejects peace deals, ransom payments and the legitimisation of armed groups, urging governors to stick to sustained military and intelligence-led operations.

The warning follows reports that Katsina State plans to release about 70 suspected and convicted bandits.
