Tunisian referee Haitham Guirat, who officiated at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, has been indefinitely suspended by the Tunisian Football Federation following a major domestic league error.

The referees’ committee cited a “serious refereeing mistake,” with Guirat facing further assessment before any return. The suspension has also reignited debate over his AFCON performances, including his role as VAR in Nigeria’s third-place win over Egypt.
