The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Government to coordinate national poverty reduction and food security programmes, especially to aid agrarian communities in the North East affected by insurgency.
Lawmakers highlighted that 139 million Nigerians live below the poverty line, with 35 million facing severe food insecurity in 2026. The House directed relevant ministries to provide farmers with inputs, credit, irrigation, and storage, while committees intensify oversight of recovery and food security initiatives.
