The Ikorodu High Court has approved three laboratories to conduct DNA tests to determine the paternity of Liam, the son of late singer Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Aloba).
According to reports, two of the approved laboratories are in the United Kingdom, while one is in the United States.
Liam’s paternity has been disputed multiple times by Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer. Mr. Aloba has maintained that the remains of Mohbad, who passed away on September 27, 2023, will not be laid to rest until a DNA test is conducted to confirm the child’s paternity.
At the resumed hearing of the case between Mr. Aloba and Mohbad’s widow, Wunmi Aloba, counsel to Mohbad’s father addressed journalists, stating:
“The court has eventually picked three DNA Laboratory centers, two in the UK and one in the US. One from us, one from them and the court picked an independent one. The matter has been adjourned to the 7th of April for us to report on the picking of samples. Prior before then, we would have made arrangement with the welfare officers to ensure that samples are taken which will be supervised by the welfare officers and it will be monitored. All the parties will be there when they are taking the samples.”
He further added that his legal team and the Aloba family will ensure they have representatives at each of the centers where the samples will be delivered and the tests conducted.
The matter has been adjourned to April 7 for updates on the sample collection process.
