Convicted kidnapper Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, widely known as Evans, has appealed for a plea bargain arrangement, stating that he has undergone a significant transformation during his incarceration.
Evans disclosed that he is now serving as a teacher within the prison facility and has obtained a diploma in Economics under a scholarship provided by the.
According to him, he is currently in his second year at the university, where he is studying Political Science.
As part of his plea for leniency, Evans expressed his readiness to forfeit 14 brand-new trucks to the court, requesting that the proceeds from their sale be transferred to the victims of his criminal activities as restitution.
He argued that granting him a plea bargain would allow him to put his acquired education and skills to productive use, stressing that continued incarceration would render the government’s investment in his education futile.
Evans maintained that he has experienced personal reform while in custody and appealed for an opportunity to reintegrate into society.

Convictions & Sentences: Evans was sentenced to life imprisonment for the kidnap of Donatus Dunu in February 2022. He also received a 21-year sentence for the kidnapping of a businessman.
Current Status:
He is currently held at the Kirikiri maximum security facility in Lagos, where he has spent over 8 years.
New Developments:
As of early 2025, he is facing a 5-count charge of murder and kidnapping and is seeking a plea bargain, having claimed to have become remorseful and having obtained a National Certificate in Education (NCE) while in custody.
Co-defendants: In the 21-year conviction, he was sentenced alongside Victor Aduba, a soldier who provided support for the kidnapping operations.
