The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that officers allegedly involved in the assault of popular actor and content creator Ijoba Lande have been identified and are currently under investigation.
Lande, who recently returned from the United Kingdom, raised the alarm over the incident on his social media accounts. He claimed that he and a friend were attacked by police officers, resulting in the seizure of his iPhone 16 Pro Max and $1,200 belonging to his brother.
The attack reportedly left Lande injured, with visible blood on his face and clothing, as shown in a video he shared online. In the clip, the actor was seen in pain, while friends encouraged him to report the incident to authorities. Lande described the assault as life-threatening, saying he “nearly lost my life.”
The incident quickly drew public attention, sparking online discussions about police conduct and accountability in Lagos.
In response, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the officers implicated in the attack have been brought forward for questioning. She added that statements are being recorded from both the officers and the victims, including Lande and his friend.
“The officers involved have been identified and brought forward to the Command for investigation. At the moment, both the officers, the actor, and his friend are giving their statements. Further developments will be communicated accordingly,” SP Adebisi said.
The police have not yet released a detailed statement on the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault, but authorities assure that the investigation is ongoing.
