A 31-year-old man allegedly killed his wife before taking his own life in Kilibwoni village, Nandi County, Kenya.

Police and local residents identified the man as Duncan Kimaru, 31, and his wife as Hardlight Jelegat, 24. Authorities said the incident followed a domestic dispute at their home on the night of Monday, February 9, 2026.

According to witnesses, the man reportedly attacked his wife during the altercation. He later left the house and proceeded to a nearby dam, where he was later found dead.

His body was retrieved from the dam some time after the incident.

Both bodies have been moved to a mortuary pending autopsy and further investigations.

Police confirmed that a weapon believed to have been used in the attack was recovered at the scene. Authorities say investigations into the suspected murder and suicide are ongoing.

Locals stated that the couple had reportedly been experiencing domestic disagreements prior to the incident.
