A housewife, Augustina Chinenyenwa, has prayed an Upper Customary Court, Daura Road, Kaduna, Kaduna State, to dissolve her three-year-old marriage to her husband, Oluwasegun James, on grounds of abandonment.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Chinenyenwa’s counsel, Murtala Gyallesu, told the court that James relocated to Ireland two years ago to seek greener pastures and has refused to visit her.

“He has failed to keep his promise of coming home to visit me,” she said.

The defendant was not in court and did not send any representative.

The court registrar said she has tried calling the defendant but he never picked the phone.

The complainant’s counsel applied for the defendant to be served through substituted service via WhatsApp.

The judge, Patience Musa granted the application and adjourned the case.
