A Nigerian single mother has opened up about the difficulties she has faced in trying to find love again after the end of her marriage, revealing that dating has been far more challenging than she expected.

The woman shared her experience on social media, explaining that it has been one year since she finalised her divorce from her former husband. However, despite the passage of time, she said entering a new relationship has proven extremely difficult.

According to her, the dating environment has been discouraging, as many of the men she encounters do not appear to be genuinely interested in building a serious relationship. She said most approaches she receives often come with hidden intentions rather than a desire for commitment.

The single mother expressed frustration over what she described as the scarcity of responsible and sincere men willing to pursue meaningful relationships. Because of these experiences, she admitted that she might remain single for a long time.

She also recounted an encounter with a man based abroad who initially appeared supportive. The man reportedly offered financial assistance for the upkeep of her child, giving the impression that he genuinely cared about her situation.

However, she said the situation quickly took an uncomfortable turn after the man allegedly requested explicit photos from her shortly after sending the money. She said she firmly rejected the request, stressing that she would not compromise her dignity.

Reflecting on the experience, the woman advised other single mothers not to rush into relationships out of loneliness or pressure. Instead, she urged them to remain cautious, maintain their self-respect, and carefully evaluate the intentions of anyone who approaches them.

Her post has since sparked conversations online about the realities of dating after divorce and the unique challenges many single parents face when trying to rebuild their personal lives.
