The Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, CSP Adetayo Akerele has been summoned to appear before a special panel set up by the
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tunji Disu to investigate allegations of impunity and corruption leveled against officers of the Agency.
Akerele, according to informed sources, is to appear before the panel on Monday (tomorrow) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The move comes amid growing allegations of high-handedness and alleged impunity involving Akerele and officers under his command.
The directive by the IGP signals a swift response to public concerns, which have intensified following multiple reports of misconduct linked to the officers.
Meanwhile, the exact nature of the discussions expected at the Force Headquarters has not been disclosed, leaving room for speculation.
“CSP Adetayo Akerele has been called to Abuja on Monday,” sources confirmed.
“This is in light of alleged misconduct and concerns about impunity under his command.”
According to sources, the summoning is part of ongoing efforts by the new IGP to reinforce discipline and accountability within the Nigeria Police Force.
“IGP Disu believes in the importance of a fair hearing. The allegations against CSP Akerele and his team are serious and must be thoroughly investigated.
