Ahead of the party’s governorship primaries scheduled for next month, 31 governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are holding a crucial meeting in Lagos to review the state of national politics and party affairs.
The meeting, which was held at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, comes shortly after the governors paid a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his Bourdillon residence following the Sallah celebration.
Sources indicated that key issues on the agenda include strategies for the forthcoming primaries and the possible fallout from the exercise.
As of the time of filing this report, about 21 governors had arrived at the venue. The Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, is presiding over the meeting.
Governors present include Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Usman Ododo (Kogi), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Abba Yusuf (Kano), Umaru Bago (Niger), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Dikko Radda (Katsina), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), and Douye Diri (Bayelsa).
