A US submarine sank the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena off Sri Lanka on March 4, killing at least 87 sailors and leaving dozens missing. Sri Lankan forces rescued 32 wounded, while bodies were taken to Galle hospitals.

The ship had been returning from a military exercise in India. Iran has not yet commented.
