Sanwo-Olu Feeds Children On Lagos Island Pupils in Primary 4 – 6 on Lagos Island on Monday benefited from a free feeding initiative called ‘Snacks For Thought’, floated by the Lagos State Government led by Governor Babajide
The Snacks For Thought initiative is different from the federal government’s feeding program as this targets mostly children in their formative years.
Sanwo-Olu Feeds Children On Lagos Island Designed by the *Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale,* the ‘Snacks For Thoughts’ program will feed children from Nursery 1 to Primary 6 in Lagos Island for five days. For a country where a substantial number of children go to classes hungry or without balanced diet, this initiative is expected to provide motivation for the pupils to stay in class, learn with filled bellies, and to avoid a life of crime.
Almost everyone with an internet connection watched a young boy respond that he’d like to be an internet fraudster when he was asked what he’d like to do when he’s grown. This is one of the unfortunate incidences that this ‘Snack For Thought’ initiative will be looking to end. Snacks For Thought: Sanwo-Olu Feeds Children On Lagos Island It is expected that when children learn with filled bellies, they’ll have more motivation to concentrate, stay in class and want to do more with their lives than internet fraud. Speaking on what she hoped to achieve with the initiative, Princess Adebowale said: “We believe that it is easier for children to concentrate in class when they have eaten. That’s why we are doing this. We want them to face their studies, stay in school, and avoid a life of crime.” Also present on the first day were Nollywood actors, Taiwo Hassan, known by movie fans as Ogogo, and a host of other colleagues who all commended the Governor’s ‘Snacks for Thought’ initiative. With initiatives like Sanwo-Olu’s ‘Snack For Thought’, perhaps children will begin to have better responses to the question of what they would like to become, going forward.
