The Nigeria Football Federation, Fédération of International Football Association and Confederation of African Football on Wednesday joined in celebrating former Super Eagles striker, Julius Aghahowa, as he turned 38.
Aghahowa, who was known for his acrobatic style of celebnrating goals, scored 14 goals in 32 appearances for the senior national team.
The former Bendel Insurance player made name for himself in the Ukrainian Premier League, where he played for Shakhtar Donetsk for seven years in his first stint as he scored 32 goals in 89 appearances.
FIFA on their official Twitter handle with a video of Aghahowa wrote, “The most acrobatic celebration in World Cup history? Julius Aghahowa, the man responsible, turns 38 today.”
The NFF also tweeted, “Happy birthday Julius Aghahowa,” while @CAF_Online also remembered the ex-player for his celebration, “Happy Birthday to Julius Aghahowa. The Nigerian striker had a legendary celebration.”
Ex-internationals Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Joseph Yobo and Odion Ighalo also celebrated the former striker.
Aghahowa was Nigeria’s joint top scorer with Austin Okocha at the 2000 African Cup of Nations with three goals. He was also the team’s top scorer in the next edition in Mali two years later with same number of goals.
