Nigerians, especially the devout Muslims, on social media, have called out Khadija Yusra, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi’s daughter, for giving the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, a handshake in Kano State.
In the photograph, the Emir appeared to introduce his daughter to Osinbajo who was on a visit to the state on Monday.
She wore a simple scarf and did not wear hand gloves, as is common with Muslim ladies who want to avoid shaking men’s hands.
Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), while commenting on the picture, berated Khadija, saying it was unacceptable to the faith of the Muslims.
“Why is the Revered daughter of the GREAT EMIR OF KANO holding so tightly to an ‘infidel?’
“On top of that, she’s not wearing hijab to cover that sexy neck of hers. This is unacceptable.
“The emir’s daughter is not putting on a hijab and she is shaking not just a man but a pastor is it not haram for a woman to shake a man in Islam,” MURIC said.
“There is even sharia law in Kano state o… This is unacceptable,” another Nigerian identified as Vicdom, wrote.
Khadijat is a graduate of American University of France. She bagged a degree in journalism and creative writing.
She was also given departmental honours in creative writing.
Emir Sanusi was at the graduation ceremony.
