The Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Musa Animasaun, on Friday said the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has brought unprecedented development to the State in the last two years.
He lauded the tremendous achievements recorded by the administration, saying the Governor had justified the purpose to which he was overwhelmingly elected by the residents.
The Islamic cleric stated these while delivering his homily during the special Jumat service marking the second year anniversary of the governor in office.
Animasaun who is the Grand Imam and Alfa in the State, expressed satisfaction in the positive turnout of most of the policies and programmes of the present administration.
He said the administration had redefined democracy and placed premium on good governance as manifested in the unparalleled achievements made so far.
“I am happy today and glad to say that Oyetola has not disappointed us. He has been keeping faith with promises made to the people.
“I am convinced by your sterling qualities. I am in no doubt that your administration would do more and achieve more in the remaining two years.
“I am not a sycophant. I am not a politician. I haven’t been one but as a citizen and a cleric, it is apposite to appreciate good works. Our governor has done excellently well.
“Your achievements are noticeable everywhere, particularly in Osogbo. You have successfully consolidated on the successes of the past administrations and initiated new ones for the growth and development of our State.
“To us as clerics, we shall continue to pray for the success of the Administration and beseech God to uphold the Governor, guide him and protect him as he continues to prosper our economy and reposition our state”, he added.
In his response, Governor Oyetola expressed gratitude to God for sparing his life to witness the occasion.
He thanked the people of the State for their unflinching support and the hands of fellowship since the beginning of the Administration.
“I am happy that we all witness today. Today marks the second year anniversary of our administration, a journey that began like yesterday with uncertainties and unpredictable circumstances.
“But today, we thank God for keeping us alive. We are indeed products of gratitude. I return every glory on to him, particularly for saving my life during the EndSARS protest, because if not for Him, we don’t know where we will be today.
“As you can see, our Administration has within two years brought good governance to the grassroots. We have breathed new life to governance as you can all see a paradigm shift in all the spheres of life and socioeconomic policies of our administration.
“We have pursued vigorously, policies and programmes deliberately and painstakingly designed to take our people out of poverty, hunger and restore a new life of prosperity and happiness.
“We shall continue to place premium on things that would stimulate our economy and engender peace and socio-economic prosperity”, he added.
The Jumat service was attended by the wife of the Governor, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola; Deputy Governor Benedict Alabi; Senate Spokesman, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Bashiru; Speaker, Osun House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Owoeye; Secretary to the State Government Prince Wole Oyebamiji; members of the National and State Assemblies; Governor’s political associates, friends and top government functionaries among others.
