Following an explosion at a crude oil tapping site in the Rumuekpe community in Rivers State’s Emuoha Local Government Area, dozens of people, including women, are thought dead.
According to reports, the incident happened at around two in the morning on Friday when one of the vehicles carrying oil caught fire as it tried to find an illegal processing facility nearby.
Fyneface Dumnamene, an environmentalist and executive director of the Youths and Environmental Advocacy Center, confirmed the occurrence. claiming that its “Crude oil leak alarm response system” was how it learned about the event.
