Dr. Enitan Dolapo Badru, Honourable Member of the Federal House of Representatives, Lagos Island Federal Constituency 1 and Chairman, House Committee on Industry celebrates Nigerian Mothers as the World marks the year 2023 International Mother’s Day.
In a Press Statement issued on Sunday 14 May, 2023, Dr. Badru said that International Mother’s Day is a celebration of Motherhood. He stated further that the day provides an opportunity to express love towards the mother in a special way.
“Mothers are indeed jewels of Inestimable value.They nurture children from Infant to Adulthood. Our Mothers are worth celebrating everyday for their unfailing love, affection and Sacrifice”, Dr. Badru eulogised.
The frontline Federal Lawmaker charged Mothers on Responsible Parenting.
Dr. Badru said that every mother must care for and respond to the needs and aspirations of the children and family.
He however noted that Parenting is a shared responsibility of the husband and the wife to raise good children.
Dr. Badru urged children and youths to be responsible citizens and shun actions that could dampen their dreams and aspirations. He also enjoined them to set goals and target for themselves.
“It is my sincere prayer that Mothers live long in good health to reap the fruit of their labour”, He concluded.
Mother’s Day is celebrated on every second sunday of May to honour and celebrate the unconditional love of a mother.

Mother’s Day was championed by an American Social activist, Anna Jarvis. She organised several campaigns to establish a national holiday to honour mothers after her mother’s death in 1905. Jarvis planned to set a day aside for individuals to express their love and gratitude to their mothers.
Afterwards, Woodrow Wilson, 28th U.S President signed a proclamation declaring the second Sunday of every May as ‘Mother’s Day’ in 1914. Since then, Mother’s Day has been adopted by many countries around the world.
