The Ondo State Police Command has officially announced the arrest of a man identified as Oke Loya for the alleged murder of a teenager, Timibra Meretighan, at Arogbo community in the Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
According to reports, the incident occurred last Monday at Ijaw National High School in the Arogbo area of the state, where the 17-year-old student and his classmates were taking an examination. The suspect reportedly entered the premises and began chasing the students out of the classroom.
Eyewitnesses stated that while pursuing the students, the suspect allegedly strangled the 17-year-old pupil.
“After the incident, the school principal promptly went to the police station to report the matter,” a source revealed.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the arrest of the suspect and informed that an investigation is underway.
“On Monday, the principal of Ijaw National High School came to the station and reported that one Oke Loya, 27, who sought shelter at the school security gate during the rain, strangled Meretighan Timibra, 17, from Arogbo Ibe. The suspect claimed that the students called him a madman. He has been arrested and detained,” Odunlami stated when contacted.
