As part of his Social Welfare Schemes, the Deputy Leader Of Lagos Island Local Government Legislative Arm and Honourable Councillor Representing Ward C1, Hon. Prince Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan has disbursed Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000) to uplift residents across Isale Eko, Olowogbowo and Oko Faji Communities amidst prevailing economic challenges in the country.

Two Hundred (200) Households received  (N25,000) each. One Hundred (100) Widows were gifted N25,000 each while 100 Elderly Men got N25,000 each.

In addition, five Artisans were presented with Sewing Machines while 150 Residents received 5Kg Bags Of Rice.

According to Hon. Oyekan, the Economic Intervention Programme became necessary to alleviate Poverty and Upscale Residents’ Standard of Living.

He stated further that his major focus was to support President Bola Tinubu and Gov  Babajide Sanwo-Olu administrations’ efforts and policies at resolving  the current economic downturn in the country.

Continuing, he said: “‘Since I assumed office as a Honourable Councillor, I have been saving part of my Monthly Salary and Impress to empower my constituents. I thought this is the right time to give back to the people”.

“I am passionate about my people and their welfare is paramount to me”, he concluded.

The Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, represented by the Deputy Chairman, Hon. Moshood Olanrewaju Mayegun described the Economic Empowerment Programme as Extraordinary.

He said: “Sincerely, we are Proud of him. Taiwo Oyekan is a Good Product for our Party. This is not the first he is doing Empowerment Programme.He has given Grants to Traders. He has also organised Free Summer Coaching and Presented Scholarships to Students on Lagos Island.

“Taiwo Oyekan is an Indigene of Lagos Island. He is Humble, Respectful and Accommodating”. He is a Community Man and as a City Father, He is doing wonderful things. He has done what gladdens our hearts at the Party level”. The Lagos APC Chairman stated.

“He is complementing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”, he said.

The Lagos APC Chairman urged the Beneficiaries to make judicious use of the Cash gifts and Equipment.

He charged other Elected Officials to emulate Hon. Taiwo Oyekan’s Giant strides.

In his Speech, the Oba Of Lagos, HRH Oba Rilwan Babatunde Aremu Akiolu represented by the Obanikoro of Lagos, High Chief Soji Ajayi-Bembe, said Hon. Oyekan has distinguished himself among his contemporaries.

“Taiwo Oyekan is Reliable and Upright. Since he was elected as Honourable Councillor, I have heard good news about him. He has embarked on numerous community projects and supported the people. I urge other Public office holders to emulate him”,

An Octogenarian beneficiary of N25,000 Cash Gift, Alh. Salau Ibrahim expressed appreciation for the support. He also prayed for the Council Deputy Leader.

A Widow, Mrs. Rafatu Tijani said: “With this Programme, Taiye (Hon. Taiwo Oyekan) is upholding the legacies and good deeds of his Father, Aremo Kolawole Ajibade Oyekan and Grandfather, the late Oba Adeyinka Oyekan. Our Councillor does not discriminate. He is People’s Man and loved by everyone”.

“Taiye will attain higher Position. God Almighty  will grant him long life and gooad health so that he can continue to do Wonderful things and take care of the People”, Mrs. Tijani prayed.

An Artisan, Jaiyeola Ayodeji who received a Sewing Machine thanked Hon. Taiwo Oyekan for the kind gesture extended to him.

He said: “The Sewing Machine presented to me will help to expand my Tailoring and fashion designing business and improve my income earning ability”.

Recall that the Iconic Council Legislator had embarked on Periodic conomic Empowerment, Social Intervention Programmes, Community Development Projects and distributed Equipment and Grants worth Millions of Naira to Artisans and Small Medium Scale Business Owners. He also distributed Assorted Free Food Items to the Vulnerable and Elderly Citizens.
