Olukayode Ariwoola
Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, the 22nd Chief Justice of Nigeria, has officially retired from his position.
His retirement comes upon reaching the age of 70.
Born on August 22, 1954, Justice Ariwoola was appointed to the Supreme Court on November 22, 2011. He assumed the role of Chief Justice of Nigeria on June 27, 2022.
He succeeded Justice Tanko Muhammad, who resigned from the position.
Justice Ariwoola was confirmed as Chief Justice of Nigeria by the Nigerian Senate on September 21, 2022.
The process surrounding Ariwoola’s retirement is currently underway at the Supreme Court.
Reports suggest that Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun may be the next appointee to succeed Ariwoola as Chief Justice.
