Legendary fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has expressed profound disappointment at the absence of his longtime friend and fellow fuji icon, Alhaji Kollington Ayinla, during the burial of his late mother.
In a recent emotional interview on Agbaletu TV, K1 did not hold back his feelings, stating that Kollington’s absence felt like a betrayal, especially after the support he had shown him during a similar moment of grief.
“I am so angry with Alhaji Kollington because he never showed up to offer his condolences when I lost my mum. When his own mother passed away, I supported him to give his mum a befitting burial. I brought a lot of dignitaries to the burial for him and I handled all the finances 100%. See how he paid me back,” K1 lamented.
According to K1, he did not only provide financial assistance during Kollington’s own loss but also personally ensured that influential personalities graced the occasion, making it a memorable farewell.
He further questioned Kollington’s excuse, which he described as flimsy and insensitive. “He is in Nigeria, hale and hearty and the only excuse he gave was that he called me and I didn’t pick up. Am I not supposed to be angry?” he added, visibly hurt.
The incident has sparked conversations in the music community and beyond, as many reflect on the value of loyalty, respect, and friendship among Nigeria’s music legends.
