The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be released on Friday, May 9, 2025.

According to an official notice made available to Journalists in Abuja on Thursday, the results will be unveiled at 8am at the JAMB National Headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.

This means that candidates who participated in this year’s UTME can begin checking their results starting Friday morning.

Over 1.9 million candidates sat for the 2025 UTME, which is scored out of 400 marks. The exam includes four core subjects, with the Use of English being mandatory for all candidates, alongside three other subjects relevant to each candidate’s proposed course of study.

JAMB released a breakdown of the performance ahead of the result announcement, revealing a concerning trend: more than 1.5 million candidates scored below 200, the widely accepted average benchmark score for university admissions in Nigeria.

In response to the statistics, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, attributed the low scores to the effectiveness of recent government policies aimed at curbing examination malpractice.

“The high failure rate in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is clear evidence that the government’s anti-malpractice measures are yielding results, especially within the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board system,” Dr. Alausa said.

The 2025 UTME results are expected to play a crucial role in determining admission into various tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

How to Check 2025 JAMB UTME Results: Candidates can check their results by: Visiting the official JAMB result portal at https://www.jamb.gov.ng; Sending “UTME RESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019 (using the number used for registration).
