The Cross River State House of Assembly has removed Bekwarra Local Government Chair, Theresa Ushie, for gross misconduct, including corruption, abuse of office, and arbitrary salary stoppages.

The decision followed a committee investigation and a 19-6 vote in plenary. The Assembly directed CROSIEC to conduct a bye-election within 30 days
