Africa recorded the world’s highest aviation accident rate in 2025, with seven accidents and a fatality risk of 2.19 per million flights, driven largely by turboprop incidents, the International Air Transport Association reported.

IATA highlighted runway safety, poor infrastructure, and delayed accident investigations as key factors behind the continent’s aviation risks.
