Proscription: Shiites invite FG for dialogue
By Augustine Okezie

The Proscribed Islamic movement Of Nigeria, IMN, otherwise known as Shiites on Saturday in Katsina invited the Federal government to a dialogue to thrash out grey areas and other misinterpretations that might have led to its proscription by government.

The leader of the Muslim brothers in Katsina, Malam Yahaya Yakubu who made the above declaration while addressing the press as part of the activities marking the annual Arbaeen Trek which is in commemoration of the murder of Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, said although the movement have appealed the ban and are certain of defeating the government even for the ‘’7th time’’, they are willing to enter into dialogue with government to resolve all issues for peace to reign
He said ‘’our doors are always open for dialogue with federal government, it is an unconditional offer to enable government understand us even though we have understood them already, we have no other country but Nigeria’’

‘’we have no other way to demonstrate and worship of God than peaceful march through the streets and we have never instigated violence. The federal government should provide evidence justifying that what we are doing is wrong even in the sight of God. If they can we will stop’’

‘’we are in good relationship with our neighbours and even assist them in times of disasters. We invited the media in other to open up our activities on what we are doing to promote religious peace and interfaith harmony’’

The Shiite leader lamented the loss of lives of their faithful to Police brutality each time the members were on the street for a peaceful march, adding that even in the most recent past, they lost not less than 27 members cutting across various states of the country
