Meet Madam @Nike Monica Okundaye, 64-year-old Nigerian Batik and Textile designer who has no formal education but lectures at Harvard University.
This remind me of recent event when MC OLUOMO was invited by UNILAG to give a lecture and hell was let loose on social media. Our e-Professors on social media thought knowledge is limited only to the four corners of the university. Listen, there is what we call native intelligence. Someone with native intelligence can do far better than many academicians. Look back and see how we have evolved over the years, which university did our forefathers graduated from? Yet they did remarkable things.
This also remind me of my Pastor and Mentor’s Mum, Late Mrs ABIGAIL EEBUDOLA BAKARE. She didn’t go to any school at all, yet she also lectured in a University in USA on the same Batik (Adire). She went with an interpreter and deliver good lecture on how to make Africa Adire. She went to America before her son PASTOR TUNDE BAKARE.
Again, which university did CHIEF INNOCENT CHUKWUMA attended? Which school did he graduated from as Mechanical Engineer before he could setup INNOSON VEHICLE MANUFACTURING COMPANY? Today, by the grace of God, a former spare part dealer, is now the CHAIRMAN/CHIEF EXECUTIVE of the 1st Vehicle Manufacturing in Nigeria. It can only be God.
My message today is never limit INTELLIGENCE to academic environment. Someone with native intelligence and without the opportunity of having formal education can become great too.
On this note, Let’s celebrate MRS NIKE OKUNDAYE. Congratulations Ma’am. May the rest of your years be the rest of your years in Jesus name.
