Bash Ali as resumed his blackmail of every sports Minister. Bash Alli is back with his stock in trade- blackmail of every sports minister who does not endorse and sponsor his Guiness book of record fight.
After months of trying to cajole, manipulate the current Minister of Sports Sunday Dare and the Ministry of Youth and Sports development, Bash Ali is back at it leveling unfounded and grave allegations, defaming and threatening the Minister and the government, muddling up facts and rehearsing the same stories and lies.
Without proof he is accusing the Minister of corruption and insisting that there was a presidential approval for his fight. There was never any.
In similar fashion like he did to two previous ministers he is pushing his stories in the media and any Channels he finds. This was the attitude that earned him some beatings in the hands of the security aides of the former minister Dalung.
The Ministry had written two letters to him explaining that the Federal Government was not interested and will not support such a fight between a 64 year old man and a 32 year old man. Also. It was a matter for professional boxing. Not the amateur category that the Ministry oversees.
As a staff with AIT, we started promoting this fight since 2006. Till date, we have seen over 20 private companies offering various forms of supports but yet, we are still in the dark as to what has happened, what is happening and what may happen.
Bash Ali should know that Nigerians are wiser now and cannot be fooled any longer.
When Dalung was sport Minister, the federal government mandated another former sports minister, the late Bala Bawa Kaoje to help sort out the modalities for this fight, get sponsors and fix a date.
Bash Ali later accused the former Minister of cornering his monies and deliberately stopping the process, forcing Kaoje to wash his hands off the fight.
Bash Ali once embarked on hunger strike and slept by the road side in Abuja daily for more than one year. He made so much on the street and soon retired to his house after government intervened.
He has used this fight to blackmail all former sports minister’s from 2006 till date. Like I said before, Nigerians can no longer be fooled.
This fight is not on the WBO, WBA OR IBO register, it is purely a private venture aimed at making cool cash and should be championed by the NBB OF C. This has got nothing to do with Nigeria and in any case, the ministry is more interested in discovering grassroot talents that can win laurels for Nigeria, not some tired pensioners who should be preparing for the other world.
