Unidentified gunmen have abducted Oladunni Odetola, a medical doctor, and Bamgbose, a nurse in Ogun State.

The medical personnel were kidnapped on Abeokuta-Imeko road on Wednesday.

Odetola, who heads the General Hospital in Imeko, headquarters of Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, was said to be travelling with the nurse when they were ambushed and whisked away by the gunmen at Olubo village.

Their vehicle, a Toyota Camry with registration number, KTU 584 FR, was left in the middle of the road where it was discovered by the police.

Police retrieved the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) identity card of the doctor and a minute of the association’s meeting at the scene of the abduction.

Confirming the incident, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesperson of the Ogun State police command, said detectives are currently on the trail of the kidnappers.
