The Lagos State Government has continued the commissioning of new school classrooms, projects and infrastructure across the various Local Government and Local Council Development Areas.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Head of the Public Affairs Department, Ministry of Education, Ganiyu Lawal, said the projects were commissioned and handed over for use by cabinet members and aides of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as part of activities commemorating the second anniversary of the present administration.
He explained that the commissioning of more than 1,097 school projects and infrastructure commenced with Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu unveiling new blocks of classrooms with administrative offices, library, laboratory, toilets with sanitation facilities and boreholes at Igbobi Junior College, Fazil Omar Senior High School, Onike Girls High School, Iwaya, and Akintan Junior Grammar School, Surulere.
According to him, some of the key projects commissioned and delivered on Friday by over 30 Commissioners, Special Advisers and other aides of Mr. Governor include 13 classroom blocks with offices, borehole and firefighting equipment to Anglican Primary School in Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area and another 13 classroom blocks with administrative offices, laboratories, toilets and borehole were also handed over to Okemagba Senior High School in Epe Local Government among others.
He said, “At Ibeju Lekki Local Government, the State Government commissioned six classroom blocks with administrative offices, laboratories, toilet facilities and borehole at St. David Primary School, Oshokoro. Aside from the numerous projects, the State Government renovated several dilapidated schools to provide a conducive environment for teaching and learning in various public schools in the State”.
“At Ojo, the renovated school buildings at Community Senior Secondary School, Ojo and Local Authority Primary School, Iba as well as the construction of security infrastructure at Lagos State Model College, Ojo were commissioned and handed over to the school authorities and the communities by the State government”, Lawal stated.
While informing that the commissioning of the 1,097 school projects and infrastructure is a continuous process, Lawal noted that the beneficiary communities across the six education districts were thankful for the projects and praised the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration for the unprecedented delivery of additional facilities to the schools to improve the education sector.
Recall that Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, last week Thursday, at the commencement of the commissioning of more than 1,097 school projects by the State government directed members of his cabinet to commission completed school projects in their respective areas.
