The General Manager of Lagos Neigbourhood Safety Agency, Prince Dr. Ifalade Oyekan accompanied by the Head of Public Affairs, Mrs. Oloruntoba Runsewe on Tuesday 25th October led Citizen NewsNG correspondent on a tour of the Agency’s Headquarters at Oshodi, Lagos to share his Success Story and Action Plan for effective Community Policing in the State.
Since he assumed Office as the General Manager of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency, Dr. Ifalade Oyekan, a graduate of Law from the the Prestigious Lagos State University and Security Expert of over sixteen years has embarked on restructuring of Neighbourhood security architecture in Nigeria’s commercial Capital.
Dr. Oyekan is a Lagos Crown Prince. He is one of the sons of the late Mornach of Lagos, Oba Adeyinka Oyekan II who reigned from 1965 to 2003.
With his dedicated Team of Professionals, Dr. Oyekan has continually demonstrated resilience and hardwork in the discharge of his duty. He has rejigged the moribund Lagos-own security outfit.
On each day at his duty Post, He sets target for himself and his Team Members. A practice lauded by stakeholders in the industry.
Dr. Oyekan’s office is a beehive of activity.
In his timeline, there is no official closing time during crisis.
Known for his Walkaholic nature. Dr. Oyekan does not sit back in his office to give instructions or directives but he goes round the cities; urban and suburban areas in the state for on-the-spot assessment of security suituation to curb impending incident.
No doubt, Dr. Ifalade Oyekan is Intelligent and Resourceful. He is a Technocrat. He understands the task Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu assigned to him.
Dr. Oyekan was the Head, Human Resources Department of an International dredging company, Lagos Channel Management Limited (LCM) before he was appointed by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the Director-General of Lagos State Law Enforcement Training Institute (LETI). During his short stay at LETI, there were massive transformations across departments.
Upon seeing the great strides recorded by Dr. Oyekan at LETI, Governor Sanwo-olu redeployed him to the Lagos Neigbourhood Safety Agency.
To achieve his set goals, Dr. Oyekan reorganised the operational procedures of the LNSA and collaborated with sister agencies to further strengthen the Lagos security body.
The Officers of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency are deployed to Strategic locations across the nooks and crannies of Lagos to prevent and manage crime.
Dr. Ifalade ensures that officers of the LNSA are fully-kitted with Hi-tech crime fighting and management equipment such as Walkie Talkies, Body cameras, Metal Detector, Protective Tray and Reflective Jacket for efficient operation. He also preaches ethics and professionalism among his men.
To further carry our comprehensive surveillance of the nooks and crannies in the state and ensure a safer Lagos, the LNSA is set to unviel a modern Situation Room equipped with high-tech security equipment which would be manned by well trained Personnel.
Dr. Oyekan ensures that LSNA officers undergo continuous training to catch up with the emerging challenges on the job in line with best global practice.
The Lagos Neigbourhood Safety Agency organises Periodic Public engagement and offer safety tips for Residents and Visitors.
Citizen NewsNG gathered that the LNSA runs enlightenment and advocavy campaigns against Crime and criminalities on Radio stations to brief the general public on its activities.
According to Dr. Oyekan, A peaceful and orderly Lagos is vital to social and economic development of the state.
Oftentimes, Dr. Oyekan and his Team spend larger part of the day on Lagos roads to ensure safer and secure Lagos.
“Sometimes I send undercover agents to the streets and Highways notorious for traffic robbery to curb crime.”, Dr. Oyekan told Citizen NewsNG.
To instill discipline into his officers , Dr. Oyekan had on several occasions paid unscheduled visits to duty posts of LSNA Officers.

• Establishment of Research and Documentation Department
• Establishment of Forensic Department
• Establishment of Suituation Room
• Drone Deployment across the state for aerial surveillance
• Inland Waterways Patrol and Surveillance
• Training and Re-training of LNSA Officers
• Productive Collaboration with Security Agencies, Stakeholders and Sister Agencies
• Redesigning of LNSA Officers’ Uniforms and Kits
With the continuous support of Governor Sanwo-olu, He has acquired more Patrol Vehicles, Body cameras, Body Trays, Helmets and other state-of-the-art Crime fighting and management equipment.
The Lagos Prince told Citizen NewsNG that in the next few months, the Agency would acquire more advanced security management equipment to further keep Lagos Safer and secure from internal and external threats.
The LSNA Boss, Dr. Oyekan charged Lagos Residents and Visitors to report Criminal elements and their activities to its officers and other sister security agencies in the state. He assured the residents that their identifies would be a protected.
According to a Lagos Resident who preferred
not to be named, Dr. Oyekan is a Servant-Leader. A TeamLead who joins his Surbodinates during operation to get job done. He is a Researcher, Deep Thinker, Target and Result Oriented and Down-to-earth.

Indeed, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the right choice to appoint Prince Dr. Ifalade Oyekan as the General Manager of Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency.
