As Christians across the world celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Dr. Enitan Dolapo Badru, Honourable Member of the Federal House of Representatives, Lagos Island Federal Constituency 1 enjoins faithful to emulate Christ.
In a Press Statement made available to Newsmen in Lagos, Dr. Badru said: “Easter is an important and oldest festival to commemorate the resurrection of Christ three days after His death by crucifixion. For many Christian churches, Easter is the joyful conclusion of the Lenten season of devoted prayer, fasting and penitence. It is celebrated between 21 March and 25 April, on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the Northern spring equinox”.
He continued: “Easter is one of the most important celebrations in the Christian calendar. A period Christians glorify and give thanks for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ”.
The Federal Lawmaker noted that Jesus Christ sacrificed his life for mankind through crucifixion, death and burial but rose from the grave three days later and redeemed the world from sin.
Dr. Badru however admonished Christians and other adherent to show love to one another during Easter period and beyond. A gesture that would strengthen brotherliness and peaceful co-existence among the Citizenry
He described Jesus Christ as a Peace-Loving son of God.
He also charged Nigerians to support and lift the Downtrodden in the society to make the world a better place for all.
