The deputy Leader of Lagos Island Local Government, Prince Taiwo Oyekan fetes Fathers as the world marks International Father’s Day 2023.

In his Congratulatory message, Prince Oyekan described fathers as Pivotal to raising family in the society.

The Lagos Prince eulogised fathers for their love, care and support for the family.

“Fathers are Breadwinners of the family. They are Role models to their children”, He continued.

“Father’s Day was declared to celebrate Father or Father figure, as well as Fatherhood, Paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in the family and communities”, He said.

He however noted that the responsibilities of fathers does not end at conception but to raise the children.

Father’s day was founded by Sonora Louise Smart Dodo in 1882. She was the daughter of American Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart. Her mother died when she was 16. Her father raised her and her five brothers. One day while listening to a sermon in church about Mother’s Day, it struck Sonora that no one celebrates Father’s Day.
