NJC Recommends CJN’s Son, 22 Others As Federal High Court Judges | Citizen NewsNG

The National Judicial Council has recommended Olukayode Ariwoola Jr, son of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola for appointment as a judge of the Federal High Court.

The recommendation was made at the 103rd meeting of the Council presided over by the CJN, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola and held in Abuja.

In a statement on Friday, the council spokesman, Soji Oye, said the Mr Ariwoola Jr was appointed alongside one Grand Kadi, 23 judges of the Federal High Court, and four Kadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal in Kano.

He said the recommendation was made at the 103rd meeting of the council presided over by the CJN, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola and held in Abuja.

“The National Judicial Council considered the list of candidates presented by its Interview Committee and at the end of deliberation, recommended the under-listed names of successful candidates as Head of Court and other Judicial Officers for the Federal High Court and the Sharia Courts of Appeal of Kaduna and Kano State,” he said.

According to the statement, those appointed as Federal High Court Judges alongside Mr Ariwoola are: Ekerete Udofot Akpan, Hussaini Dadan-Garba, Egbe Raphael Joshua, Anyalewa Onoja-Alapa, Aishatu Auya Ibrahim, Ogazi Friday Nkemakolam and Ogundare Kehinde Olayiwola.

Others are Chigozie Sergius, Hauwa Joseph Yilwa, Amina Aliyu Mohammed, Sharon Tanko Ishaya, Chituru Joy Wigwe-Oreh, Musa Kakaki, Owoeye Alexander Oluseyi, Abiodun Jordan Adeyemi, Agbaje Olufunmilola Adetutu, Salim Olasupo Ibrahim, Dipeolu Ibrahim, Dipeolu Deinde Isaac, Abdullahi Muhammad Dan-Ige and Mashkur Salisu.

The council also recommended Kadi Muhammad Aminu Danjuma as Grand Khadi for Kaduna State; Muhammad Adam Kadem, Salisu Muhammad Isa, Isa Idris Sa’id and Aliyu Muhammad Kani as Kadis for Sharia Court of Appeal, Kano.

Mr Oye said the recommended officials will be sworn in after the approval of the president and their respective state governors.
