Another Nigerian Chef Begins 200-Hour Cooking Marathon To Break World Record | Citizen NewsNG

Tope Maggie, the chef based in Ogbomoso, Oyo, has embarked on a 200-hour cooking marathon to set a new world record.

Maggie announced the cooking marathon attempt in an Instagram post on Thursday evening.

He also shared several pictures and videos while requesting support for his new stint.

In an accompanying flier, Tope revealed that the cooking marathon is taking place at the Ogbomoso Recreation Club, Ogbomoso.

Tope began the attempt on Thursday at 6 pm. As of the time of this report, he has surpassed 10 hours of cooking.

The flier also suggested that the chef has sought the approval of the Guinness World Records (GWR).

The Nigerian aims to break the world record of Alan Fisher, the Irish chef, who cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes.

On November 7, the GWR certified Fisher as the record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual after he surpassed Nigerian chef Hilda Baci’s record of 93 hours and 11 minutes.

The Irish chef also claimed the longest baking marathon (individual), with a time of 47 hours 21 minutes.

Reacting to Fisher’s feat, Baci, who was certified for her own achievement by GWR in June — said she is happy to have held the prestigious record.

She also congratulated Fisher for his “huge achievement” and sent her best wishes to him.
