A road accident along Koko-Yauri highway in Yauri local government area of Kebbi State involving a Volvo-car and a truck claimed 11 lives while 10 others were injured on Friday.

Police spokesman, SP Nafi’u Abubakar who confirmed this to journalists in a statement in Birnin Kebbi said the truck was from Sokoto on its way to Ibadan, and was loaded with passengers and bags of beans.

It collided with the Volvo car at Giron-masa village in Shanga local government area.

He said the state commissioner of police, Chris Aimionowane, had visited the scene, prayed for the victims and commiserated with the families.

He advised members of the NURTW and NARTO and other road users to observe traffic rules and told drivers to always observe speed limits and avoid reckless and overnight driving.
