The Deputy Leader Of Lagos Island Local Government Legislative Arm and Executive Director Of Kolawole Ajibade Oyekan Foundation, Prince Taiwo Oyekan has again displayed a renewed commitment to promoting Grassroot Sports and Talent Hunting among the younger generation, particularly Primary School Pupils in Lagos.
The High-Ranking Lagos Council Legislator who also doubled as the Chairman of the Occasion adopted Green House in the 52nd Edition of St. Joseph Catholic Primary School Inter-House Sports Competition.
In his speech, Prince Oyekan charged the participating pupils to engage in regular exercise for Physical and Mental wellbeing.
“As Children, to make your dreams and aspirations come true, you must be hardworking, obidient and prayerful”, He advised.
Continuing, He said: “I urge you to be good Ambassadors of your school, shun Peer Pressure and concentrate on your studies”.
“As a Lover of Children and Sports, I accepted the offer to support the Inter-House Sports Competition to further inspire the Pupils”.
“For me, It is a collective Task to nurture and guide our children”.
Prince Oyekan however reiterated his commitment to uplifting the younger generation and promoting unhindered access to Qualitative education.
The Iconic Lagos Prince commended the Management of St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and Inclusive Unit, Particularly, the Organisers of the 52nd Edition of InterHouse Sports Competition.
Prince Taiwo Oyekan’s Green House came First with 10 Gold, 8 Sliver and 5 Bronze.
Pink House emerged Second with 8 Gold, 9 Bronze and 3 Sliver while Blue House clinched 5 Gold, 7 Sliver and 7 Bronze. Yellow House secured 6 Gold, 3 Sliver and 7 Bronze.
It could be recalled that through his Corporate Social Intervention Initiative, Prince Oyekan has organised Football Match Competitions and other Sporting Activities to promote Grassroot Sports Development and Talent Hunting for Self-Development and actualization. This is to further Provide a veritable platform for young athletes to pursue their dreams and aspirations.
In addition, In 2022, Prince Oyekan organised Free Summer Coaching For both Primary and Secondary School students on Lagos Island and its adjoining communities in which Over 500 students attended.
The Second Edition was held between August and September 2023, One Thousand (1000) Students attended.
Scores of Qualified Teachers were engaged. the students were trained in Skills and Vocational works such as Catering and Baking, Tailoring and Fashion Designing, Computer-Digital Literacy Training, Cosmetology, Soap and Disinfectants Production.
According to Prince Oyekan, the Initiative was designed to develop Universal Basic cum Tertiary Education, Formal and Informal Education and complement the THEMES Agenda of the Lagos State Government.
Career Talks were organised to nurture the Youngsters and guide them in Career Choice.
