A Lagos Council Lawmaker, Hon. Lookman Ademola Ojutiku, representing Ward E1, Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area has hosted the 4th Edition of Quran Recitation Competition on Saturday 30 March, 2024 at
The RF Balogun Hall, Anikantamo, Lagos Island, Southwest Nigeria.

In his soul-lifting address, Hon. Ojutiku emphasised the importance of religious education.

According to him, the Annual Quran Recitation Competition was designed to promote Religious knowledge acquisition and transfer among the younger generation of Muslims on Lagos Island.

Speakings further, He Said: “It is an annual religious programme designed to integrate Formal and Religious Education, nurture responsible, Upright and God fearing generation”.

 

“I developed keen interest in religious education right from childhood”, he continued.

Hon. Ojutiku stressed that Religious knowledge play a vital role in shaping Human character and building a better society.

Hammad Abdul Ganity from Modirasat Nuru liakbar Aliislamiyat emerged First. Abdul Basit Oke of Modirasat Shadatu Dareni came Second while Haleeyat Abdul Rahman from Morikasi fuhum Walimani, Third position.

Others were Muhammad Fathiu Ademola from Modirasat Ahbab Rosululahi, Fourth Position, Ibrahim Akande from Daryl Kashifu Li Hulum, Fifth position, Kamaldeen Abdul Kareem, Fitiyat kamoliyat Ali Adabiyyat, Sixth position.

The First Position received Electric Cooker, White Writing Board, a Set of Markers and a copy of The Holy Quran. The second position got an Electric Jug and The Holy Quran while the Third received an Electric Kettle and a copy of The Holy Quran..

The contest was moderated by the Union of Arabic Teachers, Lagos Island Chapter(Okoo Faji Zone). Led by the Chairman, Hustaz Alh. Myftau Aluko was assisted by his Vice, Hustaz Abdul Wahab Obadara.

Hon. Ojitiku commended the participants for their Hardwork and commitment to mastering the Holy Quran.

“Indeed, Your outstanding performances would serve as inspiration to your Contemporaries”, the Council Legislator noted.

 

He also congratulated the winners and encouraged other participants to level up on their knowledge.

A Medical Expert, Dr. Nurudeen Olalekan Animashaun outlined the benefits of fasting to human health to include; Supports for hormones and genes that influence metabolism, Body Weight and Sugar management and stomach health.

Others include Prevention of Heart disease, delay of ageing process and mental alertness.

Dr. Animashaun urged the gathering to live a healthy lifestyle and go for regular medical check up.

The event was chaired by the Executive Chairman of Lagos Island Local Council Development Area, Dr. Mayor Muibi Alade Folawiyo.

Participants expressed appreciation to Hon. Ojutiku for availing them the opportunity to develop their Quranic knowledge.
