A suspected suicide bombing in Mogadishu, the Somali capital, killed five people and wounded 10 others on Wednesday.
The explosion occurred near a security checkpoint on the busy Mogadishu-Afgoye highway during morning rush hours.
Nour Abdirahman, a security official, confirmed the attack to Anadolu, noting that police believe it was a suicide blast.
An investigation has been launched to determine the precise cause of the explosion, TRT AFRIKA reports.
The Al Shabab terrorist group, which has been fighting for nearly two decades to overthrow Somalia’s central government, claimed responsibility for the attack.
